Spanish professional footballer Sergi Roberto has been linked lately with Manchester City. The agent of Barcelona utility player, Sergi has recently cooled talk of a move to the Etihad stadium with reports emerging that the Spanish player is not interested in leaving Barcelona.
The Catalan press have reported that City boss Pep Guardiola is eager to bring Roberto to England this summer. Guardiola worked with Roberto while coaching of Barca B and also the first team and is reportedly a fan of the versatile player.
Roberto signed his latest Barcelona contract in 2018 with the contract running until 2022 and has a buyout clause set at €500 million.
Asked about the prospect of a reunion, Roberto’s agent Josep Maria Orobitg said: “Sergio Roberto has no plans to leave Barca”.
Sergio Roberto is popularly known for his flexibility on the field as he can play either as a right-back or as a midfielder.
Roberto remains an important member of the Barcelona squad. He is the fourth captain and has made 36 appearances in all competitions so far in 2019-20, either at right-back or more recently in the midfield.
