Manchester United have identified their alternative to Aston Villa star Jack Grealish. The Red Devils were prepared to bid very high for Grealish if Paul Pogba left this summer.
But he looks set to commit his future to the club following his return to form with the resumption of footballing activities, and the form of Bruno Fernandes means a midfield target is less of a priority.
Manchester United have dropped their interest in Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish. The England midfielder is too expensive for the Red devils to acquire this summer, and they have decided not to pursue Grealish.
Instead, Man United have switched their interest to Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek. Grealish can also play on the wings but he is likely to be the first backup option at several positions rather than a critical starter for United if he joined.
Aston Villa are reportedly demanding €100m for Grealish this summer in an attempt to scare off other clubs. United are still in the market for another midfielder and have now identified the Dutch international as an alternative for Grealish. Ajax are reportedly demanding €40m for Van de Beek, which makes him an affordable alternative.
Man United and Ajax have a good relationship following several transfers in the past, with some of their deals, including Daley Blind. It is believed that the English giants will be contacting the Eredivisie club soon.
The 23-year-old Van de Beek was an academy player for Ajax, and he has played 175 games for the club, scoring 41 goals and providing 31 assists.
