Chelsea interested in Manchester City defender

Chelsea are ready to move for good defenders amid Frank Lampard‘s squad restructuring. Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City flop John Stones, even if they are successful in their efforts to land Brighton’s Lewis Dunk.

The report claims that Chelsea are considering a loan move for the 26-year-old, who is still highly rated by the club’s hierarchy.

The Blues know they need a top defender if they are to be considered as serious contenders for the Premier League next season. And they are eyeing two Premier League players, John Stones and Lewis Dunk.

The Mirror suggests Stones could arrive from Manchester City, where he is surplus to requirements. Chelsea pursued the England international when both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte were in charge, and could return their interest.

Stones first emerged at Barnsley before flourishing at Goodison Park during Roberto Martinez’s time in charge. Stone was seen as the perfect foundation for Pep Guardiola’s revolution in Manchester. Their relationship was viewed as symbiotic, with Pep benefitting from a talented ball-playing defender and Stones at the other end, learning from one of the game’s greatest minds. Sadly it hasn’t quite panned out the way it was envisaged.
