Dean Henderson has laid out his stance explicitly to Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 23-year-old has impressed in his two successful seasons on loan at Sheffield United, while United No.1 David de Gea has struggled for form recently.
Henderson helped the Blades earn promotion in 2019 and his performances this term have seen him touted as England’s No 1.
Henderson is due to return to Old Trafford this summer where he will present Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a huge problem.
De Gea has regularly been backed by the United boss despite committing a host of errors throughout the season.
Solskjaer has hailed Henderson as a future United No 1, but the 23-year-old doesn’t appear content to wait and play second fiddle to current first-choice keeper David De Gea, reports The Sun.
Henderson has previously expressed his desire to become a starter for United but admits he will look elsewhere if he believes that door is closed.
Chelsea are among the teams monitoring the situation and are reported to be willing to double his wages should he end up at Stamford Bridge.
De Gea has been put under the spotlight after several blunders this season, with the Spaniard’s recent shaky display during their disappointing 3-1 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea..
It leaves Solskjaer in a difficult position, with De Gea having signed a six year deal worth £117 million this time last year.
It appears to be seen which club Henderson ends up playing for next season as teams have started circling around him including rivals Chelsea.
And if Solskjaer isn’t ready to dump De Gea, the Englishman could be out of Old Trafford next season.
