Manchester City youngster Gavin Bazunu has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract before he was loaned out.
Manchester City have loaned Republic of Ireland Under-21 goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu to League One side Rochdale for the 2020-21 season.
The Irishman arrived at City last season after making his senior debut for Shamrock Rovers at just 16, playing six times and conceding only twice before he was signed up by the Blues.
Bazunu soon earned promotion from the Under-18s to the Under-23s and quickly established himself as the first choice goalkeeper, making 14 appearances in Premier League 2 and a further five in the UEFA Youth League.
His displays even earned him a space in Pep Guardiola’s travelling squad to Lisbon for the conclusion of the Champions League tie against Lyon, a match in which they lost out to Lyon.`
“This is the opportunity that I have been looking for,” Bazunu said. “I really enjoyed the first- team football that I got at Shamrock Rovers and I just can’t wait to get back into it again.
“That’s where you gain experience and, how I believe, you improve at the fastest rate, so I just can’t wait to get started.”
