Manchester United target four Barcelona players for summer signing

Manchester United are poised to take advantage of Barcelona’s summer clear-out and have reportedly identified four transfer targets.

Mundo Deportivo says United are planning to raid Barcelona this summer with Ousmane Dembele, Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, and Samuel Umtiti all on their wishlist.

The LaLiga giants are set for a summer exodus following their Champions League humiliation against Bayern Munich and are willing to listen to offers for the quartet.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team finished third this season and reached the semi-finals of three competitions, which was a decent season for them and an improvement on last season.

However, the manager will be looking to improve his side further next season and according to reports, he’s got his eyes on the Catalan giants.

United have previously been linked with all four of the Barcelona players and are hopeful of striking some cut-price deals as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to rebuild his side ahead of next season following their Europa League disappointment against Sevilla.

The Catalan giants are in a state of confusion after losing 8-2 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week and sacking manager Quique Setien on Monday.

Ronald Koeman is expected to be announced as the new man in the Camp Nou hot seat once compensation has been agreed to take him from his role with the Dutch Football Association.

The Dutchman is expected to relieve a number of first-team stars off their duties as he looks to rebuild the Barcelona squad, meaning a number of seasoned performers may be available.

United’s primary target is Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho but a deal has stalled with the two clubs yet to agree over a fee.

Dembele would be a like-for-like alternative to Sancho and may be a cheaper option with Barcelona ready to sell him after he endured another underwhelming season in Spain.

Umtiti, 26, has been a mainstay in Barcelona’s teams in recent seasons but his performances have suffered due to persistent knee injuries.

The World Cup winner has fallen down the pecking order with Clement Lenglet preferred on the left side of central defence.

United boss Solskjaer has big plans this summer and has called on the club to spend big with an ambition to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City next season.
