Tottenham keen on Korean defender


English side Tottenham have opened talks with Chinese side Beijing Guoan to sign defender Kim Min-jae. The highly-rated defender had been linked with a move to England in recent weeks.

Local Chinese media Xinhuanet reports that Spurs have engaged with Guoan regarding a transfer fee in the summer. Kim is regarded as one of the best defenders in the Chinese League and has enjoyed a successful campaign so far.

It is understood that Beijing Guoan are open to selling the defender and have placed a valuation of €15million for his services.

There are also reports that Arsenal and Everton are also interested in the Korean international. Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is eager to strengthen his options in defence ahead of next season and Kim is regarded as one of the best available at an affordable price.

Tottenham need to strengthen with the club set to lose Alderweireld and Vertonghen in the summer. It remains to be seen whether the London club would complete the deal soon with a number of potential suitors eagerly at wait.
